Who plays in the orchestra?
Everyone! Beginners, intermediates, and professionals are welcome. There are no auditions to join and no assigned seats in each section.
When and where does the orchestra meet?
We rehearse weekly at First Christian Church of Decatur on Saturdays from 2-4pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to setup and tune.
How often does the orchestra have concerts?
Our schedule includes at least one concert per semester. Typically, we have one or two concerts in December and one to two concerts in May.
We’re also planning to have a small group of members perform a few additional concerts in the near future, so stay tuned for those announcements!
What events and spaces do you usually play for?
Our orchestra typically performs at retirement communities and local churches, and a small ensemble has even played for a wedding! We’re always open to new venues — if you know a place that would enjoy a concert, we’d love to hear about it.
Do I have to bring my own instrument?
Yes, please! We currently do not rent out instruments but hope to be able to do so in the future. If you need an instrument, please reach out and we can direct you where to go for rentals.
